Uniform Policy

UNIFORM POLICY 

 

Students are required to wear a uniform at Dr. N. H. Jones, please see uniform guidelines below:  

School Uniforms and Appearance - Revised 5/15/25 

 

ALL STUDENTS MUST FOLLOW THESE RULES: 

  • All shorts and pants must be made of uniform material (plain cotton twill fabric with NO ornamentation) and have BELT LOOPS and be worn with BELTS. 

  • Shorts and skorts should be no shorter than “fingertip” length and no longer than knee length. Shorts and skorts should not have any extra ornamentation. 

  • All shirts must have the school logo and should not have any extra ornamentation. (See below for the shirt options.) 

  • Winter Wear must have the Dr. N.H. Jones logo if it is to be worn in the classroom.  

  • Cool weather clothing worn in the classroom: 

  • Sweatshirts with a zipper and no logo. Colors:  White or navy blue, Sweaters (pullover or cardigan)  

  • Dr. N.H. Jones sweatshirts or jackets. 

  • Cold weather: If wearing a long-sleeved shirt under a uniform shirt, the long-sleeved shirt should match their uniform shirt color. 

  • FIELD TRIP UNIFORM:  Navy bottoms and white polo shirts with school logo are the official uniform for field trips.   

  • Monogramming must be in official colors. Navy clothing with tan thread. All other clothing with navy thread. NO WHITE THREAD. 

  • All shirts must be tucked in.  

 

BOYS’ UNIFORM CHOICES 

Shirts: 

  1. Polo-type shirts with buttoned plackets. Color: White, navy, or light yellow. Short or long sleeves.  

  1. Oxford (button-down collar) shirt. Colors: light blue only  

Bottoms: 

  1. Pants or shorts (uniform material without ornamentation) with belt loops. Colors: Navy or khaki (NO CARGO PANTS/SHORTS) 

Accessories: 

  1. Shoes:  Sneakers ONLYSneakers must have laces or Velcro closuresThey can be the slip-on type of sneaker as long as your student can run in them. NO BOAT SHOES, BOOTS, OR CROCS ARE ALLOWED. 

  1. Socks: Socks can be individualized. There are no regulations in regards to what socks look like. 

  1. Belts: Belts can be individualized. There are no regulations in regards to what belts look like. The only rule is that belts are to be worn if pants/shorts have belt

  2. loops. 

 

GIRLS’ UNIFORM CHOICES 

Shirts: 

  1. Polo-type shirts with buttoned plackets. Colors: White, navy or light yellowShort or long sleeves.  

  1. White Peter Pan collar blouse. (To be worn ONLY with jumpers - no monogramming.) 

Bottoms:  

  1. Pants or shorts (uniform material without ornamentation) with belt loops. Colors: Navy or khakiNo Capris or cargo shorts/pants. 

  1. Skirts or skorts-uniform style without ornamentation. Colors: Navy or khaki. 

  1. Jumpers: Pleated or straight in navy, khaki, and plaid without extra ornamentation (No silver buckles, belts, bows, etc.) Plaid jumpers are specific to Dr. N.H. Jones. Please make sure you purchase the correct plaidALL JUMPERS MUST BE WORN WITH WHITE PETER PAN COLLAR BLOUSES ONLY. No Monogramming on Peter Pan collar blouses.  

Accessories: 

  1. Shoes:  Sneakers ONLY.  Sneakers must have laces or Velcro closuresThey can be the slip-on type of sneaker as long as your student can run in them. NO BOAT SHOES, BOOTS, OR CROCS ARE ALLOWED. 

  1. Socks: Socks can be individualized. There are no regulations in regards to what socks look like. Knee socks are acceptable. Ankle length tights or leggings tucked into socks. 

  1. Belts: Belts can be individualized. There are no regulations in regards to what belts look like. The only rule is that belts are to be worn if pants/shorts have belt loops. 

 

Monogramming: 

The following vendors have been approved to provide the Dr. N.H. Jones logoScrub Paradise, Revelation Wear, & Design by Daniel. All monograms must be approved colors:  

tan thread on navy clothing, and navy thread on all other approved colors of clothing. NO WHITE THREAD. 

 

Exceptions: 

  1. Students may wear scout uniform TOPS only on meeting days. 

  1. Spirit Friday: Students may wear t-shirts earned through school-sponsored activities or other school spirit shirts.  

  1. Outer Wear (Removed in the classroom):  Cool weather clothing worn from the car to the classroom, to PE, etc., but that is removed once the child is in the classroom.  

 

Non-acceptable items: 

If an item is not listed in the above guidelines, it is NOT part of the Dr. N.H. Jones uniform and should not be worn to school. Please only purchase items that conform to the guidelines stated above. Please note that color (see lists above for boys and girls), fabric (uniform only) and lack of ornamentation (no excessive trim, visible labels, ornamental buttons, extra pockets or zippers, buckles, etc. are important considerations in making your uniform selections. If you are not sure something is acceptable, do not purchase it before referring to the list above or calling the school (671-7260) for clarification. 

 

Suggestion for Kindergarten Parents:  Please send in a full change of uniform clothes for your child in a Ziploc bag with his/her name on itBe sure to include a white NH Jones shirt, blue shorts, underwear, and socksThis will serve two purposes:  1) an extra set of clothing if the child has spills or an accident, plus 2) this is the required set of clothing for a field trip if you forget to dress them appropriately the morning of a trip.
