Welcome to Dr. N.H. Jones Elementary STEAM Magnet

Dr. N. H. Jones Elementary is a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) magnet school. As a professional learning community, the Jones faculty embodies a positive, enriching culture that promotes the academic achievement and social emotional development of all students through a growth mindset. Students engage in an innovative environment where all students are enriched through our STEAM program, enabling students to learn and utilize a STEAM mindset through strong integration throughout our school.

We continue to provide our students with STEAM enrichment throughout their day-to-day experiences, expecting our students to seek the technological approach of learning with the creative approach of instruction and prepare them for real-world challenges. In order to meet these expectations, students participate in hands-on activities in the classroom as well as in their weekly specials’ rotations. In the student's interactive Science Lab, under the guidance of our Science Enrichment Teacher, students learn about the ever-changing world around them in a high energy, hands-on scientific approach.  Our MakerSpace Engineering Lab, as well as our classrooms, students are encouraged to utilize their artistic capabilities and creativity by engaging all students in solving real world problems through design challenges and the 4 C's (collaboration, cooperation, creativity, and critical thinking). These higher-level challenges involve critical thinking, shared inquiry, and collaborative learning. Immersed within our STEAM school walls, you will also find our students learning and engaging in coding, 3D design media productions and visual and musical arts.
